The light of the old Philips TV shines onto the brown suede coach. Tropical plants are scattered around the room. The small heater makes the indoor air thick but warm. Outside cars rush by and streetlights hum, covered by spiders. Your gaze is fixed upon the screen and your eyes glisten as they follow stories from another world. On the screen we see bright lights shining on streets that lead from one tall building to the next. You take my hand to show me how it’s all connected and how it feels to be alive. Your laughter echoes through the buildings with soundwaves reaching the pigeons atop skyscrapers. Even higher still you sit next to me on a plane, where each second covers great distance. We glide across oceans and far below us waves break on the shore, where bare feet briefly land on sharp rocks before elegantly dashing to the next. Where footsteps in the sand are washed over by salty water and where I hold your hand in mine. We write our names in the sand and describe the love in our heads. The sun sets where we rest and we silently stare west.
