Love Poem. Shielded by de trees

We chanced upon a lake.
It was dark and still, at the end of day.
We heard the fluttering leaves
and saw a test tube moon on gentle waves.

It was there, my love,
where I found what I had lost.
As if the lake became unfrozen
and the boughs of trees lost their frost.

And in that night I couldn’t sleep,
restless, I lay awake until six
(waiting for the sun).
It was then I knew May had come.

When I awoke; I was flying over the sea
of gold, pink and green,
sipping on chai tea

I looked down to the sea
and the sea turned green

Out the green emerged black
in the form of a sweet cat

It was then that you said,
“Are you my cat, or am I your cat?”
and since then we often laughed.

Taking to new shores we found
inspiration and freedom in each other
a strength to brace tomorrow,
and without fear we wandered.

Over meadows, beaches and cities
because it is this time of year
that is most special,
and it makes me so happy

to spend it with you.
